LIFT Ireland grew out of a desire to change our country for the better, not because better is needed but because better is possible.

LIFT’s vision is to create real positive change in Ireland (and by Ireland) one person at a time.  When we talk about leadership in LIFT, we are talking about something very simple. For us, good leadership means influencing others positively, whoever and wherever we are.

What is LIFT?

LIFT stands for ‘Leading Ireland’s Future Together’.

LIFT Ireland is a social enterprise aimed at increasing the level of positive leadership in Ireland.  LIFT is being rolled out nationwide via a facilitator network in our partner organisations and individual volunteers.

The LIFT programme is an eight-part, group learning programme. It is a 5-step self-reflective roundtable personal leadership process focusing on core human values. When consistently repeated, it creates lasting change through small but conscious actions

Our Ambition

Within 10 years we want 10% of the island’s population to have partaken in LIFT’s leadership learning process.

We aim to reach this target via our facilitator and partner network. Each individual or organisation that commits to LIFT brings us a step closer to our overall goal. Our vision is that over half a million people in Ireland will have experienced our leadership learning process and be ‘Living LIFT‘.

As of 2025 over 140,000 Participants across Corporate, Public Sector, University, School, sports clubs Charity and Community Partners, nationwide have taken part and that number is rapidly increasing.

By partnering with LIFT you will not only be growing the leadership capability within your team but you will also be doing so with a huge social purpose! Each Corporate contribution is immediately used to help us being LIFT to charity, social, community organisations and schools across Ireland.

Why LIFT Works?

Many studies emphasise the significance of what we do, not just what we say in leading effectively. Improved individual behaviour not only enhances our ability to lead ourselves better, but also contributes to significantly improve the culture, performance and long-term prosperity of the organisation or community in which we are involved

LIFT facilitates the development of self-awareness, enabling individuals to better understand their triggers, habits, influences, and behavioral patterns.  It then translates that awareness into consistent, meaningful action by converting established psychological theories into a practical, actionable framework that is easy to implement in real-world contexts. This process empowers individuals to strengthen and enhance their leadership from within.

Leadership Roundtables

LIFT Ireland uses a simple 5-step process where individuals reflect on leadership values in small groups, which are appropriate to people of all backgrounds, from ages 10 and up.

LIFT’s learning process is based on eight key leadership values, which were formulated after conducting an extensive nationwide survey on the country’s most revered leadership attributes. These values are Listening, Positive Attitude, Respect, Competence, Dedication & Determination, Empathy & Understanding, Accountability, and Honesty & Integrity. Since then additional themes have been added to enhance the programme based on the findings of additional surveys.

2025 Events

Events are a big part of the LIFT Ireland’s community building culture.

In May 2018, we launched LIFT OFF, a landmark event attended by key leaders from the worlds of sport, art and business. That event signified the start of our journey. Each year since then, we hold annual LIFTing Ireland events to keep the momentum going and signal our intention for the year ahead. As well as our annual marquee events, we hold regular online roundtables, facilitator training workshops, leadership seminars and meetups. Come along and join the movement.
